VISA Application Requirements

1. The application form should be carefully completed in the applicant’s own handwriting. The following documents must be produced before consideration can be given to the application.
   
   
   • Valid passport or travel document
   • One passport-size photograph
   • Copy of the return ticket or itinerary
   • Recruits by private sector, especially manufacturing companies in Lesotho may be exempt from providing a return ticket if they present an Employment Contract
   • An applicant must prove ability in terms of funds to sustain his/her living in Lesotho during the period applied for e.g. copy of bank statement
   • If you apply by mail, please provide a pre-paid, self addressed return envelope (e.g. Certified / Registered Mail, Federal Express, DHL, etc)
   • Police Clearance from country of origin. However, Representatives of tourist groups, well-known businesses, Government/ or International Organizations and holders of service (Official) and Diplomatic Passports are exempt from the policy.
   • Invitation letter from the inviting party
   • Copy of the passport
     
     *Please note that all applicants need to apply for transit visas to Lesotho from South African Missions/Embassies.
      
2. The issued visa does not absolve the holder from compliance with the Immigration Regulations, neither does it guarantee admission.
    
3. A vaccination certificate is required from visitors coming from countries where cholera or yellow fever is endemic.
    
4. Application for work permits should be made in Lesotho within the first (30) days.

VISA Processing Fees:

The fee for the Single Entry Visa is $145.00 paid in the form of cash, money orders or company checks (personal checks are not accepted).

Processing Time: Two (2) business days.


New Passport Application Requirements:

1.       Passport application forms must be filled at the Embassy

2.       Fee- M100.00 to be paid in Lesotho (Note: the applicant should send someone in Lesotho to pay at Foreign Affairs, Consular Office)

3.       Two (2) photos

·         Passport size photos should be clear

·         Should be taken on a plain background

·         Face should show two ears clearly

·         There should be no eye glasses (because they portray unwanted reflection)

·         No teeth exposed

4.       Applicant’s  current/ expired/exhausted passport – certified copy

5.       For lost passport, please provide a certified copy of Police Report.
 

Emergency Travel Documents:

Emergency travel documents are issued in lieu of lost or invalid passports. The fee is M200.00 (Maloti).


Requirements for Transportation of Corpses:

1.      The corpse should be in hermetically sealed coffin

2.      Should be embalmed

3.      Proper documents from the caretaker who prepared the corpse

4.      Death Certificate

5.       Passport
 

Work Permits

The Employer must have:

1.      Business Permit

2.      Valid Trader’s License

3.      Tax Clearance Certificate

4.      Letter of Invitation
