On 3 June 2026, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Lesotho joined fellow African Embassies in Washington, D.C. to celebrate Africa Day.
Africa Day is an annual worldwide celebration held on 25 May that commemorates the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, now known as the African Union (AU). The day honors Africa’s independence, cultural diversity, and unity, and is celebrated through various activities including food exhibitions, music performances, cultural festivals, and diaspora markets.
The celebration in Washington, D.C. brought together African Embassies to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the continent through traditional African music, fashion shows, and art exhibitions. The event provided an opportunity for participating countries to share their unique cultures and traditions while promoting African unity and strengthening ties among African nations and the diaspora community.
The Embassy of the Kingdom of Lesotho was proud to participate in this vibrant celebration and to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Basotho people alongside fellow African nations.
