New Requirements for Lesotho Passport Application
- Prior to passport application, all applicants need to acquire birth certificate at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lesotho. It could be done by relatives, neighbors, who know the applicant date of birth.
- Two (2) photos
- Passport size photos should be clear
- Should be taken on a plain background
- Face should show two ears clearly
- There should be no eye glasses (because they portray unwanted reflection)
- No teeth exposed
- Passport Application forms must be duly filled at the Embassy
- FOR MINOR (below 16 years)
- Prescribed passport application form
- Newly introduced birth certificate with security features for children aged below 16 years
- Letter of consent from parent or guardian
- ID card or valid passport of parent or guardian
- Passport fee
- FOR ADULTS (16 and above)
- Prescribed passport application form
- Valid Lesotho Identity Card
- Two finger prints (left and right thumb)
- Two passport size photos
- Signature

- 64 pages Regular passport M 300.00
- 32 pages Official passport M 300.00
- 32 pages Diplomatic passport M 400.00
- 64 pages Diplomatic passport M 800.00
- Passport fee to be paid in Lesotho (Note: the applicant should send someone in Lesotho to pay at Foreign Affairs, Consular Office)
- Applicant’s current/expired/exhausted passport certified copy
- For lost passport, please provide a certified copy of Police Report.
